67 th Cannes Film Festival

From 14 to 25 May 2014 is scheduled to be held the 67th annual Cannes Film Festival with new movies from Mike Leigh, Ken Loach, Ryan Gosling, David Cronenberg, Abel Ferrera and more.  Image

New Zealand film director Jane Campion has been announced as the head of the jury for the main competition section. In late January of 2014 it was announced that the long delayed Grace of Monaco, directed by Olivier Dahan and starring Nicole Kidman as Grace Kelly, would open the festival playing out of competition.

The winner of the Palme d’Or will be announced on 24 May, and the winning film in the Un Certain Regard section announced on 23 May. Image

 Moreover, this year Cannes has  chosen to  pay tribute to Marcello    Mastroianni with  the poster for the  67th Festival which  represents on a  photogram Italian actor  taken from  movie 8½ directed by Federico  Fellini and presented in  the  Official  Selection in 1963, acknowledging  once  again the  artistic importance  of  Italian  and  European cinema  through one of  its  most stellar  figures.

The movies announced to  compete for the Palme d’Or were  named at the Cannes  press  conference on 17 April 2014  and French actor Lambert Wilson has been  announced as the host of the opening and closing ceremonies.
